There are a few of these traveling body exhibits. One is coming to Pittsburgh, and while I find the admission a bit steep for for our family budget, I am still curious about it and think it would be very education to attend. My older dss attend college and is either going to do physical therapy assistant, or nutrition, and my daughter wants to be a midwife, both related to how the body works.
Has anyone here actually attended any of these exhibits? Are they even morrally acceptable?
Just the fact that the bodies come from China, and are "unclaimed" makes me suspicious. Especially knowing China's human right's violations and forced abortion policy.
One of the catechists at church was discussing attending the Pittsburgh one on Sunday. But after the had already purchased the tickets were wondering if this was something a Catholic person should support by attending.
Anyway, just looking for opinions and discussion about these.
I can't really speak to the moral implications but it would seem to me that if the bodies are donated and the fetus is not from an abortion, what is the harm?
I can say that I saw Bodyworks 2 years ago and it was fabulous! As a scientist and a teacher and having worked in health care, the educational opportunities were just incredible. I attended autopsies to learn anatomy and this is the next best thing. You will leave with a new appreciation of the complexity of the human body and the interactions required for life to exist. You will be amazed at some of the displays.
I say go and enjoy but plan on really taking your time going through.
