Gasp! Much of the media seems to be suffering from the vapors over recent comments by Marine General Peter Pace, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

In a wide-ranging interview with a Chicago Tribune Reporter, General Pace said, "I believe there are certain things, certain types of conduct that are immoral. I believe that military members who sleep with other military members' wives are immoral in their conduct, and we should not tolerate that."

Then Pace went on to tell the reporter, "I believe that homosexual acts between individuals are immoral and that we should not condone immoral acts." This was in the context of the, "don't ask, don't tell," policy in the military.

The fact that the General put all immoral acts on equal footing was lost on the media. This is anothere example of the degree to which our society (esp. the media) has descended into moral relativism. Leaders are not longer free to remind us that there must be restraints on our moral behavior!

Pray for our Country!

BTW, the General's surname is derived from the Latin for Peace, something all military people desire.

God's Blessings!

In case you didn't notice, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have adopted a child from Vietnam whose name will be "Pax" which is the Latin word for Peace.

The last line of the Agnus Dei:

dona nobis pacem - grant us peace

In Italia the surname is pronounced Pa' che (short e),  a fairly common name.

Chaio

That is the objective case.

Pax vobiscum -- Peace be with you.  The answer is Et cum spiritu tuo -- And with your spirit (currently translated as "And also with you").

They all come from the Latin word Pax, which (according to Wikipedia) was the Roman goddess of peace.  New Advent describes it as a picture or icon given the kiss of peace, which replaced the Pax (kiss of peace) shared between early Christians of the same gender.

:D Looks like the legions of Heterophobes and militaryphobes will have plenty of ammo in months to come before the general election in 08 now that the nation's top military officer spoke the truth (gasp, get the oxygen tank, argh, oh, oh gasp, pffffft....) about homosexuality.

And, ohmigawd, the guy even invoked m,m,m, morality. Didn't that general get his politically correct indoctrination before taking the job? Bet the poohbahs of the press rooms from the Pentagon to Capitol Hill were reaching for their (not-so-hidden) stashes of liquid spirits to wash this moment down.

Now you see it? This is what happens when people who believe in g, g, God occupy the White House and take over the executive branch? And, to think that jarhead even had the nerve to put homosexuality and immorality in the same catagory ... Well, what next? What's this world coming to?

Hopefully a world where any public official will never be so scorned as General Pace was in the press and halls of Congress for his remarks about homosexuality.

I think the biggest mistake General Pace made is one my late-father, an Air Force officer, warned me about making as a writer, especially in areas where the liberals control the media: he spoke openly about homosexuality, a veritable rat-hole in politics if there ever was one. Dad told me, "You'll never convince anyone and it's a loser of an issue ... run like hell away from it." Well, as you can see, I'm not all that good at following such august advice like I should because, being a writer, like a rowdy character in a redneck bar, there's nothing I love more than a good rumble every now and then. Especially when the cause is just.

And, standing alongside General Pace, (who really doesn't need a small fry like myself) is a just cause. Besides, he's taken an oath to defend the Constitution, and if I'm correct, free speech is still protected.

It is. Right?
