Somebody working in the Springfield, MA Sunday Republican must not be a fan of the Episcopal Church, or who knows what -- nonetheless, he or she did conservative Episcopalians, recently converted or want to be converted Rome-bound Catholics, et al, a huge favor.

Smack dab on the front page of yesterdays sunday paper, (albeit on the lower half of the fold) was a picture of several clerics at my old Epis. parish and a sizeable number of their sheep taking a dip in a local pond to highlight the growing Global Warming crisis. Just to the right of this photo of foolishness in motion was a story about the vote by the San Juaquin, CA diocese to secede from the ECUSA. What placement! What timing!

Being a former reporter, news editor and 2 in the morning paste-up editor of a small weekly, we'd always dream of getting this kind of contrast. But this was a beaut! Priceless!

That was ridiculous enough since the last time I took a dip (during a warm June day some 36 years ago) in the same watering hole and found it more than bracing! These people gave the term "frozen chosen" a newer meaning I never dreamt possible. But their timing was priceless indeed for us folks who never tire in pointing out the devil's fine print in all these "relevancy" causes.

Just as these blue blooded Yankee Episcys were electing to take their trendy bath, way across the continent, their denomination was experiencing a genuine meltdown; and all because of yet another New England-y demonstration of foolish trendiness: the "consecration" of that so-called "bishop" from NH who stiffed his wife and kids to run off with his boyfriend, now "spouse."

I know the rest of y'all will have fun with this gem. Oh, by the way, Grace Episcopal is the same (one and only) parish that won't hold weddings until the ECUSA messes up its priorities once more by coming up with a gay-friendly so-to-speak wedding "liturgy."

One can only wonder how this Yankee parish and its melting denomination led by the bishop from Las Vegas will handle this new kind of Secesh.

Can it get any goofier? Well, ... stay tuned ...

Oh yes! I agree! In fact, what is not generally known is that there are people out there (in various denominations as well as among atheists and agnostics) who want polygamous marriage, those who want various group marriages, those who want marriage of adults to children and, yes, even those who want to marry dogs, cats, horses and other animals. There are also those out there who want to totally do away with marriage.  God please forbid it, if homosexual marriage of one man to one man or one woman to one woman ever becomes a reality throughout our nation, it will not be long until the above mentioned others will be demanding marriage as well.  They are organized and ready to go for it if the homosexuals get marriage rights.  While we have - PRAISE THE LORD - been blessed to have a state constitution amendment recognizing only  marriage as between one man and one woman, here in Virginia, some liberal churches (Episcopalian and others) have been known to secretly perform unauthorized  "blessing of the union"  ceremonies under the totally mistaken impression that God would bless such sin.

How about marriage to ghosts or aliens or life-size dolls? Maybe that'll be next . . .

I am kinda bored with Anglican Crisis #.... Anyone remember what number it is?

Wake me up when the inevitably and invariably crossable "uncrossable line in the sand" is over the consecration of same-sex attracted non-human (let's say dogs!) bishops who reject the resurection.

For 20 years now there has been a "Crisis about to rip us apart"... And to date, it hasn't happened.  The Catholic-leaning element just quietly leaves...

The final end will be not with a bang but a whimper.  With fewer and fewer faithful who are dues-paying, registered, sunday attendees, the body of clergy has continued to go up!  A few years ago when they claimed to have some 2.2M faithful, they had 14K+ clergy.  Now, likely closer to the 1.5 (if that) they have 17.2K+ clergy.

When the last Episcopal layman dies, he is going to have one hell of a funeral.

Yep, the diminishing collection plates could very well be the death-knell of Episcopalianism (as we know and love it). Good point. Money determines most things, even in religious matters.
