Hi John,

The first time I read what you wrote, my eyes saw "confessed," but my brain read "confused."  I have two teens, so please understand.   :D

Do you mean that you've just had your first confession as a Catholic entering the Church?  If so, how did it go?  I did that just about a year myself and I felt very "light" afterward, and after each time I do so now.

Welcome to the Forum!

Jill

With two teens, you have earned the right to be confused.  :dude:

John,

I am joyful in your desire to know and serve God. I noticed the healing masses on the website shown in your profile. It must be a blessing to witness the power of God at work among His people.

I am far from being a teen, in fact I have a teen grandchild. I look forward to reading some of your posts.

1  When Jesus finished giving these commands to his twelve disciples, he went away from that place to teach and to preach in their towns. 2  When John heard in prison of the works of the Messiah, he sent his disciples to him 3  with this question, "Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?" 4 Jesus said to them in reply, "Go and tell John what you hear and see: 5  the blind regain their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the good news proclaimed to them. 6 And blessed is the one who takes no offense at me." Matt 11:1-6 (NAB)

Blessings,
Bill

Kayla here, to represent the young(er) generation!

I'm in for my last eight months of teeny-bopperness.  Then I enter the twenties.  *shudder*  I'm gonna be old!

Ya know, I find it kind of odd.  Here at college, as a freshman, I am older than quite a few sophomores.  And my in my freshman class are a year younger than myself.  I think people out East start school a year earlier than we do on the West coast.

And I definitely feel old today!  I slipped on the ice after running practice this morning, and boy do I feel it!  I think you may need to let me borrow that walker of yours!

Hi, John,

What made you decide to convert to the Catholic Faith?  How were you "inspired"?  What reactions did your parents and family have when they found out you wanted to become a Catholic?

Do you now go to the Novus Ordo Mass or to the Traditional Latin Mass?

Welcome to the True Faith, by the way, and the "Gateway to Heaven"!

God Bless you,
:)

Wow!  Congratulations!  Were you all admitted at the same time?  What a glorious day! Or was this for the Rite of Election/Call to Continuing Conversion?

Patience, friend.  The Rite of Election is one of the best parts of RCIA because it makes you one of the Lord's chosen, and gives you a connection to the universal Church through an actual successor to the apostles!  With the scrutinies now underway, you are in your final preparation for baptism, and your reception into the Church and to the Eucharistic table is in sight.

Which members of your family will be joining the Church with you?  Are all to be baptized?

we were all baptized in "another faith tradition" if my lingo is correct so no dippin' over here... It's feels silly to go to RCIA when people are getting classes with a priest and joining when ever. :(

Just keep telling yourself that God knows what He's doing.  I have never known anyone admitted at the Easter Vigil who regretted waiting.  The entire Church year is structured specifically for that, and the Easter Vigil revolves around the admission of catechumens and candidates.  Even though it's not technically necsesary to wait, it is a tremendous advantage to the congregation as it fulfills the meaning of the Vigil.  And since we know God honors those who carry forth the mission of Christ, you will be blessed for your participation in the Vigil.

Thank God that He has given you this opportunity!

Wonderful thread. Thanks for the great photo! I encourage more photographs; gives us all more of a sense of "knowing" others; more like "real life."
