I have read the post here and hope the the following will encourage those who are really going it alone.

My wife and I have both been on the road to Rome for the last five years and in the process of full communion with the Catholic Church. All of our friends and now my family had basically told my wife and I that they do not want us around.

About three months ago I told my sister that we were in the process of converting to Catholicism and the look on her face was one of bewilderment. Not long after that we we were asked to leave the house by my parents and my sister.

I was very hurt and my father is basically disinheriting my side of the family. But I know that God has complete control and I don't have to worry because my real family is within the Catholic church.

Never give up and never give in. You know what is right and what you need to do. God will bless your commitment to his church and never ever let anyone take away what God is giving you and can only be received in the Catholic church.

My flesh is struggling but my spirit is at peace and I am gaining a new family in God's Church.

You will be very blessed by doing what is right and following what God has shown you through your study of the Catholic faith. I can sit here today and say with the utmost confidence that I am in the Church that Christ established over two thousand years ago.

what have I lost?
  1. Family
  2. Friends
  3. livelyhood
What have I gained?
  1. Peace
  2. Joy
  3. true happiness
  4. Home
Be blessed in your journey.

Catholicdan.

Dan, I'm so sorry that your family is reacting badly.  I hope with time they'll come to their senses and that those things you list as "lost" will be found again.  Yet I agree you are making the best decision.  Truth is too precious to barter with.

And who is the little smiling face on your avatar?  KEE-YOOT!!

Jill
