My husband took me to see this movie on Saturday. He loved it, partly because he is 100% British descent, (as far as we know). I thought it was pretty good. At least there was no anti-Catholic sentiment. The time period is represented very well with the costumes and buildings - it takes one right back to 18th Century England.

I saw it and enjoyed it. The PMs (parliament members) would not admit slavery was wrong because they had other interests at stake... rather than deal with the issue from a moral standpoint, they really were coming at it from the perspective of what was best for them and their economy and their agenda.... not unlike politics today I might add. Lots of people in both political parties will refuse to say their officials are doing something wrong (when clearly they have been caught doing something wrong and illegal) just because they don't want to hurt their own agenda. They defend their politician not because he is morally right but rather because he is good for their agenda. Instead of being honest and saying that, though, they will give bogus rationalizations for why the politician was not wrong in the first place... just like parliament members in England used to argue that slavery wasn't really wrong.
