In the Philippines, we do have masses said in some Malls. The Angelus and the divine mercy prayer at 3 p.m. is also said over the intercom(?) at certain malls.
I have read that there are isolated instances of Catholic chapels in malls and storefronts in the United States and Canada as well.
The term “public address system” indicates a more generalized sound broadcast to the public, applicable in malls, theaters and similar venues.

David,

Thanks for that clarification.  I knew it was something like that...I'm just not familiar as to how it's called.

Oh, yeah...I don't think it's an isolated case to celebrate mass in malls in my country.  Even a small mall here would accomodate a mass...well at least an "anticipated" mass in a mall near my home.  And in the mass held in the big mall is actually a t.v. mass ministry.  After going to mass at our parish, I'd listen to the priest's sermon in this t.v. mass.  He is very good.  So if I didn't get a good homily at the mass I attend, I can always listen to the one on t.v. :D.  They've even built an adoration chapel inside the mall. (And most, if not all, government offices have first friday mass :D:cool:.)

Isn't there a saying, "If you can't bring Mohamed to the Mountain, then the mountain will go to Mohamed"?  I'm not sure if I got this, right...but something to that effect I guess... Well, I guess that's what the Catholic Church is doing here.  If you can't get the people to go to church to attend mass, then they'll bring the church to the people.

As for non-Catholic Christians...they would hire one of the cinemas and they make it as their congregation meeting place.  Cinemas are also located inside the malls here.

And I believe some constructions were also made for a room for Muslims since they have to pray 5 times a days, or something.
