May you be filled with the joy of the Resurrection!
My pastor's Easter homily used the example of a woman who was notified that her son, Paul, had died of a drug overdose in Thailand. He had swallowed 20 packets of heroin and one burst, killing him of a drug overdose. She was devastated, especially so because her son was a college student who she thought was in France on holiday, and as far as she knew, he had never used drugs. She began to make arrangements to have her son's body flown back for burial when the phone rang. It was Paul, her son!
It seems his passport had been stolen and sold on the black market, and was being used by a "drug mule". Paul was alive and well. He was resurrected!
Can you imagine the joy Paul's mother felt when her son, who was dead, was returned to life? Figuratively, of course, because he really hadn't died.
But Jesus really did die, and he really did come back to life. Can you imagine the utter despair of the apostles and his mother? Can you imagine the unimaginable joy when they found out that Jesus was alive???!!!
Paul came back to his mother and his friends just as he left them, alive and well. Jesus came back to his mother and his friends totally transformed, glorified and resurrected.
And through Jesus, we are also a new creation, a Resurrection People, an Easter People! Through Jesus we have new life, and death no longer has dominion over us.
Christ is Risen! He is truly Risen!
Happy Easter! Happy Pascha!

Feliz Pascua! Happy Easter!
Our Pastor mentioned that we must be "alive in Christ", that we died with Him in Baptism so that we may also be alive with Him in the Resurrection.
He mentioned our Missionary youth group which goes from house to house in the Parish area bringing Christ to people and inviting them to come to Christ. He said that some parents were concerned, "what if they are shot!?"
He answered, "That would be wonderful! That means our children would be martyrs, they would go straight to heaven and be united with God for all eternity! Isn't that what all parents want?! And then, our Parish would be famous, we would name a school after them, and millions would come to the Church."
I think Father Bill had a lot of time to think about an answer to that question.
Nonetheless, may we all be willing to die for the One who died for us.
Sincerely,
Juan
