I have been thinking about this today, reading some posts from those undergoing RCIA.
How knowledgable they are and what an understanding of the Church.
And yet someone may come back to the Church, with little knowledge, and that mostly outdated and often erronous, and by virtue of Baptism, Communion and Confirmation, received in youth, may make a truly meant Sacrament of Reconciliation and immediately be once again part of the Church.
I think that I am here guilty of misunderstanding the power of the Sacraments and what it means to have received them.
But I feel a great sense of humility when reading about the path that so many are taking, at often great personal cost.
It has been too easy for me to come back to the Faith after so long, I think I am saying, that there is no require programme to attend, and I feel an unworthiness and an ignorance.

Apologies, tried to edit, but could not see how to edit the title, which should of course read RCIA and returnees.

For some reason, users do not have the ability to edit titles. I have fixed it for you.

Vanessa, think of it as joining a family. For a new family member, such as an adopted child or the spouse of a family member, there is a period of adjustment in which each member needs to get to know the new member, and the new member needs to learn the family stories, etc.
When a family member returns, such as from a tour in the military overseas, there is an adjustment period, but that person is already part of the family. Even if that member has had amnesia, he is still part of the family.
As a returning Catholic, you are already part of the family, and you're welcomed at the family table. If you feel you have things to learn, that knowledge is available to you through RCIA and other programs, but you're already welcome at the table.
