Hi CHN Family,

This Sunday my husband and I will be meeting with some of our close Protestant friends whom we have known for many years. (Those who were in the Christian sect/cult with us.)  We will be meeting at Cabellas, (sp?), the well known sport's outlet in Hamburg, PA.  I will be riding with my close friend who was raised Catholic but is now an Evangelical.  I'm not sure how many will be meeting with us, but I think as of now, there will be about 8 - 10 of us.  That could change because often times, when an ex-member from that Christian sect/cult hears about a few of us meeting, they want to come too.  So it can start out small and get very big.

The gist of it is this.  I have been praying about this matter and I intend to talk with my close friend about my desire to become Catholic.  I know already from previous conversations, and knowing her for many years, that she believes that Catholics can be "saved" and that many are wonderful Christians.  She sent her daughter to Catholic High School and only ever had good reports about their education program.  However, she has made it clear that she would not want her daughter to marry a Catholic.  Her daughter knows a Catholic boy who is very respectful and has good morals, but the concern is that they don't fall in love. :?

Anyway, I am up for a good challenge, and even a lively debate should the situation present itself.  I'm asking you folks here to keep me in your prayers.  I'll let you know how everything turns out.

God Bless You All,

Darlene

Hi Darlene,

I just prayed a "Hail Mary" for you and will remember you tomorrow at Mass.  Our Lady will have her mantle around you.   You and your husband will be 'light and salt'...trust in Her way, ask her assistance to help you know when to speak and when to be silent.  She'll come to your aid as you witness to the Truth.  Maybe fast something in particular for them all tomorrow?

BTW, the original Cabelas was founded right here in Nebraska...the first store in Ogallala NE.  way out west - closer to Wyoming.  He sure did something right!

PAX,
PP

My son-in-law is from Sidney, which is where the main office is located now.  My daughter was married there (in Sidney, not at Cabella's).  Did you know they have a whole counter of dehydrated Cajun food (at Cabella's, not at the church)?  :D

They are also building a new Cabella's in Gonzales, LA, about 75 miles from my house.  My son-in-law promises they'll visit more often once it's open!

Rick,

I love the way you write sometimes! You're so fun...:D

Anyway, I've heard so much about Cabela's. They have one in Canton (which is about 45 minutes north of here... it's the town where Mother Angelica grew up). Anyway, I'll have to go check it out one of these days (Cabela's, not Canton ;)) when (or if :() I ever get a job (pray for me, please, folks! I'm broke as a snapped wishbone - sometimes, I think, in more ways than one...:?).

And Darlene,

You are in my prayers. I hope things go well with you. I don't know if I'd attempt taking on the whole group at the restaurant, though. Things could escalate into a public scene and it could ruin your fellowship and/or your potentially delicious meal. Can't have that now, can we? ;)

Don't get me wrong! If the situation presents itself (you used that phrase yourself, so I'm sure this is what you meant anyway), you of course would be right to defend your beliefs. I do pray things go well! But I just wanted to mention the possible "danger" of getting into such a public discussion. "Just keepin' it real, man" (as Randy Jackson from American Idol woud say...:dude:).

Well, you're in good company on the job-seeking front.  I promise you're not alone!

One thing about Cajuns ... we love discussing religion and politics, but it will never get in the way of a good meal!  In fact, when we sit down for Thanksgiving dinner, the primary topic of conversation is what we're gonna eat for Christmas!

You crack me up!  That made me chuckle...and at 3:30 a.m. no less!  :D:shock:

You know if the Church served up some deer jerky and some "Plain Coffee" every Sunday in the narthex...they'd have more parishoners attending....oops that sounded a little too evangelical didn't it?  I think the BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST should be enough of a draw for our famished souls!

Bless you Cajun Rick,
PAX,
pp
