Carolyn,

Hi! Welcome to CHN!

Your profile says you are Catholic. Have you always been? Just curious... (FYI... I'm a Cradle Catholic, myself)

I hope we'll be hearing more from you.

I would love to hear about your Mary garden if you would share? It sounds a beautiful idea.

Hi, yes I am a cradle catholic,,,but was not brought up in the faith at all , my parents only took us to church on Christmas, my mother was episcopal and step Dad catholic I was baptized at 5 years old along with my sisters, it wasnt until I got married to a practicing catholic did I trully fall in love with our faith, thankyou for asking.

Vanessa,,,If you go to mary gardens.com you should find some good info there..or blessed mother flowers, gardens,,,,,,,,,when I prepare my garden in the spring,,,I always keep Jesus and Mary in mind big time , its kind of like spending quality time with them, asking to bless our home, bless my childrens foosteps as they play........my favorite flowers to plant are   impatients,,,,,they mean     Marys love,,,,,,,,,morning glories,,,,,,,they mean marys mantle and so on.....I reasearch and try to add flowers trees    that have meaning to Jesus and mary, when the summer is here   our garden is trully beautifullllllllit almost has a church grounds feel to the yard , and then of corse I putter around say the rosary,,,,,,,speak to jesus about kids , my hopes my fears   , its kinda like creating    a sanctuary in your own   yard,,,,,,,,hope this helps thankyou for asking,,god bless

Wow, that idea is totally new to me, I had never thought of such a thing.

I have always disliked gardening, but maybe because I've never had anywhere beautiful to tend. It must be a great joy to you.

I have an itsy bitsy postage stamp size garden, and not even mine as the house is rented. And the blaspheming of my neighbours and constant loud music is always in the air.

But I have lost three babies and I have always wanted to create something in their memory. My husband (legally ex husband) mocked such an idea, but a Mary garden would be the most perfect thing. I want to thank you so much for the inspiration and information.

Vanessa

Vanessa,

That would be a most beautiful thing to do.  I'm so sorry for your loss.  Please don't ever let anyone make you think those babies were "less" because of your early losses of them.  This would be a wonderful thing to remember those souls with.

I, too, have never heard of a Mary Garden.  My daughter and I plant flowers and have our family has a vegetable garden.  I can't wait to share with her this idea!  Thank you so much for sharing :D

Welcome!

Ali, im blessed to share my joy of mary and the garden,,,,,,,the kids love the garden,if you go to a garden center you can bring your daughter and let her pick out some flowers too and take care of them,,its a good time to talk to our children about our heartfelt faith and how much it means to us,,,,,,,you can research the flowers on marygardens.com , and I find that the lord and our lady really help with that quality time with our children while we create the garden and tend to it, God bless  let me know how the garden comes out.....
