Hi, all. I have lots of catching up to do. Haven't been on CHN in a few days. As many of you know, I've been financially burdened and have been in desperate need of financial provision (I hate that word "job"...). Well, a couple weeks ago, out of the blue, a fellow worker of my sister approached me to ask me to do a fundraiser for her Little League Team (I sell Home & Garden Party products - either through home parties or fundraisers, but I haven't had any sales in awhile...). Then, my ex-boss from my last job where I worked (who had let me go because I simply didn't know enough about her product to really be able to sell it, but she's been really good to me - she's a really sweet Christian lady), well, she asked me to care for her 91-yr.-old mother for a few days while she was out of town, and she paid me pretty well for it. Then, on the last day I was there, I heard back from our local newspaper where I recently had an interview - and then a second interview. God does provide, and... in short... WOO HOO! I got the position! It isn't full time - yet, but still, it pays pretty well for this area. And it's in an area of work that I enjoy. I am a "Special Sections Writer," which basically means that I'll be writing filler and maybe some articles for the special additional advertising sections that the paper puts out on a routine basis. Seems like it might be right up my alley. I get to write and paginate and maybe even do a little bit of graphic arts. And... I'll get my own desk... very important . Also, it's days. No evenings, week-ends or holidays. And they're pretty flexible. Also, the people there seem like a close-knit group and are very nice. The people I'll be working with are very helpful and kind, not stuck up at all.
Well, just wanted to up-date some of you, since you had asked me to in the past. And pray that I don't screw up! I need and want this position. Today was my first day. Seems a bit overwhelming, but I'm sure that's partly just 1st-day jitters (I'm trying to be positive ).
Also, yesterday I went to the doctor. I need to get another x-ray, and then half-way through June the Doc is supposed to see me again and discuss the procedure for getting this golf-sized kidney stone removed. Somewhere in the conversation the question came up of the possibility of losing my kidney... he didn't completely rule it out ... Please keep me in your prayers... I suppose I should put this in the prayer section, but... I just kind of wanted to up-date some of you on what was going on.

Wonderful news, Cheri! This puts you into roughly the same line of work that I do. So you see, our prayers do have some impact. With God, nothing is ever wasted.
C’mon over and we’ll celebrate.

Hi Cheri-
I'm so glad for you. It will be nice to have some ease about your worries, won't it.
As for me, I am still waiting to find funding for my stupid lump issues. I spoke with a woman yesterday, who had a program for me, until she found out I was forty- which puts me into a new program option, for which I have to show income - which we all know I can't do. Anyway, I just broke down on the phone. My husband must have heard me, because by the end of the day, he had found the cheapest insurance in the world (like $30 for the whole family), which automatically pays 60% and you get billed the rest, and spoken to my doctor who apparently said she would do my surgery on those conditions (originally, she said $1500 up front) and that the hospital would also not be a problem. She has been worried about me, because it has been over two months since I've seen her and have been able to do nothing, yet. So it seems that I will be able to get my lumpectomy/biopsy soon. It would be nice just to know for sure, if I have cancer or not!
Maybe, God is gracing you and I with a period of peace!
Love ya-
Laura

Great news! Now we’ll pray that your medical concern and Cheri’s, too, will be benign.
