I am very happy to have found this forum. I want to continue to learn about my faith and I want to discuss various doctrines. I have found on other Catholic forums arguments start so quickly.
I hope that I can use the forum as a place where I can find reliable information without the constant struggle between extreme traditional Catholics and extreme contemporary Catholics.

Helen,
Nobody makes an A+ all the time in every class, but I think you'll find most of the participants here are pleasant, calm, reasonable, self-controlled, forbearing, and blessed with a wonderful sense of humor. We even have a few folks, Helen, who are truly wise.
God bless you,
Becky

I've been wanting to say this to each of you who've been so encouraging, so I'll say it now: THANK YOU! I don't like having people "yell" at me like that guy did. It's hard for me to comprehend such bitterness. Where does it come from?? So, I greatly appreciate your encouragement, especially as I ponder those who have perhaps been questioning their Catholic faith and may find support and direction in Rick's words which I put in my local paper. :-)
God bless you!

Hi and welcome HelenRose,
I hope you'll find this a warm and friendly Catholic "pool" to plunge in from time to time and swim.
I have found it very much a blessing and a wonderful place to gather, chat and meet some very personable folks.
Bless you as you continue to learn and grow in our glorious Catholic faith.

It is so hard for me to comprehend such bitterness also. I sometimes think that alot of that anger has nothing to do with whether or not someone is anti-Catholic or anti-semitic or anti-anything, but is a deep anger from within that is simply looking for a place to express it.
The problem is that there are those who exploit such people and look to stir up their fears and hatred. Those who exploit others in this way generally have more sinister motives - often money or power. The Catholic Church stands in the way of a number of powerful forces that stand to lose a great deal if the precepts of the Church were actually followed by the world.

Helen Rose, I agree completely. I hope we can remember this when we tend to take the hatred personally.
This type of hatred is expressed in so many areas - and it is what it is... irrational meanness.
