I drove to work early to beat the traffic, along with the rest of Columbus which had also left early. There were already accidents blocking entire sections of I-270 with the ramps blocked off. My commute was uneventful. I asked a friend if we could all go out at noon and make 1200 snow angels on the front lawn. He said we could get into trouble unless we explained to upper management that they were not religious but were for the non-religious Festival of Cr@ppyWeather that occurs in late December every year. (pardon my French, por favor)

We had a snow day once - - - January 25, 1999. I remember because it was my daughter's 8th birthday.
Now we would just be happy, joyous, ecstatic to get some rain....

We had one on December 23, 1987. It was a Friday. We had three hurricane days in 2005, though. Two for Katrina and one for Rita!

One of these years, I hope we get snow here in Virginia Beach. It happens once maybe every 4-5 years.

4-5 inches and still coming down! Too bad we all live on campus, so nothing really gets cancelled. Still had class and they plan on being open tomorrow as well.
But, I prefer this snow to the major rain they've been getting back home. I guess there's a flood advisory and some parts of the Northwest are really bad. Yikes.
My only hope is that there is no snow next (not this coming) weekend. I wanna go home without any flight problems!

I am a "Grinch" who DETESTS snow! I particularly do not like snow because drivers here in the Richmond, VA area cannot seem to cope with it and our localities tend to never budget enough money for snow removal operations but everybody has to go to work and school anyway. A year ago, a locality, known for rarely closing due to the weather, only closed one snow day because the County Manager went out to come to work, had trouble getting out of his driveway, slid down the street, did a 360 spin, slid into a snow bank and, when he got out of his car, slipped and busted his rear end on the pavement (he had back trouble for a while thereafter) at which time, after he quit seeing stars, he told the police officer who had arrived to help him to tell his office to shut down the county offices. SIGH! So, I am here i the Richmond, VA area fervently praying that we will have little or NO snow! Maybe I should move to Austrailia this time of year! "Oooh, I'm dreaming of an Austrailian Christmas, while I sweat and play my digeredoo...!"

Oh my. I'm surprised my fingers are still able to type and haven't fallen off due to sheer coldness.
After dinner my friends and I snuck a few cafeteria trays from the cafeteria and headed out to the open field that separates the college from the seminary. There's a nice hill, to say the least. So we sled for a good half an hour, while being watched and laughed at by all of the seminarians walking past. Buuut, one of them came and joined for a joy ride.
It was good fun.

Kayla, you reminded me of what my daughter and her friends did to have that sort of fun down in Irvine (Orange County), CA. They bought those big blocks of ice and sat on them and slid down the grassy slopes at the college.
Hey, ya gotta do what you can....
