I hope everyone here does not think I am a psyco because I got this response kinda from the Priest who held mass a few weeks ago.
During mass and at the beginning of communion, when Father Jim held up the Eucharist wafer extending it around the church, the Eucharist became transparent and there was a firey flame within flickering as he showed it around the room. I was not in any particular spiritual frame of mind except of that of experiencing the body of Christ during communion . I blinked my eyes hard and nudged my husband asking him if he was seeing what I was seeing. Sonny didn't understand what I was saying so I just decided to wait and talk to him after mass.
After mass, I was so elated with this experience I had to tell Father Jim about it. His response to me was, "It was a reflection from the candles." I thought he must be right...I told Sonny about it in the car as we were driving. He said he didn't see this and the wafer is not transparent and would not reflect a burning candle.
It's been weeks since this experience and have looked at the Eucharist every week to see if the flame was within the Eucharist. It has not happened again.
Sonny told me to take this as a gift from God and not question it.
I will never forget seeing this. It was truly a miracle to me to see this flickering flame since I was not expecting any of it.
Does anyone else here know of this happening to them or anyone else? I am not dreaming....this really happened.
Please understand, this was REAL and not an illusion.
But everyday I keep asking myself Why?

Hi, Liza. Glad you’re back.
I like to refer to experiences like this as “keepsakes.” As your husband says, they are probably not miracles. But they are definitely providential and personal reminders of God’s greatness and of his love for us. I think most of us, at one time or another, has experienced something that just caught his eye, that made him exclaim, “God is wonderful!” He seems to give them primarily to perk up our spirits and help us make it through the coming days.
Yes, I’ve experienced them on occasion, too. I remember one in particular. It happened on a major feast day — I don’t remember which one, but it may have been the Solemnity of All Saints; however, it was many, many years ago when I was a new Catholic. The sky was nearly overcast and somewhat stormy. At the moment of the elevation of the host, a beam of sunshine hit the stained glass window and shone directly on the host. As long as the priest held up the host, the sunbeam remained. When he lowered his hands, the sun disappeared again in the clouds. This was the only time during the Mass that we got even a glimmer of the sun, and it shone only in that one spot: on the host.

Liza,
Our Deacon, who is a convert, related a story like this about the Eucharist. He said once during the consecration he looked at the host and saw the face of Christ, much like the image on the Shroud of Turin. Needless to say it was an important affirmation of his faith.
So these things can and do happen. But, blessed are those who do not see and yet believe ....
