I recently stumbled across a documentary that originally aired on HBO called "Hard As Nails." When I clicked "info," it made reference to a ministry, so I watched it.
To make a long story short(er), this young guy is a self-proclaimed "unordained Catholic minister." He has started a ministry called Hard As Nails, and it's a very in your face, fire and brimstone, youth ministry. Alot of his techniques are very foreign to me, very extreme, and not traditional in the Catholic sense. At least in my perception.
I was curious if anyone else has seen this documentary or knows anything about this ministry, and, if so, what your impressions were?
I was able to spend some time with a good friend of mine who is a very active evangelical protestant. He is very accepting of Catholics, so I thought I would expose him to this, just to get his reaction. He said it felt very familiar to him, very evangelical, and was interested in learning why it was so foreign to me.
This "minister" is clearly getting through to some young people, helping to spread the Gospel in both word and action, so I'm not sure how to feel about all of this. Some of it was excellent, and some of it seemed questionable to me.
I'd just like to get some of your reactions to this. This could make for a great thread, I hope.
