Your professorial new look is so "Hemingway." Kill any big cats lately?

I like the beard. He's graying nicely, too. I prefer my hubby with a beard. It makes him seem so scholarly.

Keep it up, gals! That's what we men love to hear. "Graying nicely" / "scholarly" / "professorial" / "Hemingway-like".

I think I found yer ''double'' Dave. Not as in Identical...but hey, a resemblance is evident. Uncanny, because I just posted about 'doubles' on my blog last night.

Brooks and Dunn?! And which one do I look like?! LOLOL Here's the current "cool" picture of me, taken 11 months ago, that has been affectionately compared by friends of mine to a Mafia don:

It's on my blog and on the back cover of most of my 11 books published with Lulu. That's how I actually look now, since I shaved off the (dreaded by the wifey) goatee again, a week or so ago.
I wanna see some photos of you female members with dyed hair or wigs. That can be the equivalent of our beard / goatee pictures. Here's my wife Judy with dyed blonde hair. That only lasted about a month, as I recall. Didn't really fit her that well, though it was a novelty (and I'm quite partial to dark hair in women as it is). This was February 1986 (both age 27), back in my Protestant campus missionary days. If you click your mouse on the photo, you can see a bigger version.

Aint it odd how "distinguished" and 'graying nicely' never EVER appear when describing a maturing woman, huh? NOT FAIR.:X Old men are never called 'battle axes.' Curmudgeons yes, but "battle axes" nope.
No, I've not an 'axe' to grind here, and have never been called a battle axe and WOE to the soul who might ever utter that expression anywhere near me.... but it's just not fair. Men grow "better looking" and women we just get old....and maybe 'sweet' or 'cute'.......... It's true though, gravity does us a lot more damage than it does to a man, but that's neither here nor there. Not fair. :X
Gee that's two mad emoties I used here. I'm really not having that bad a day! I've been sick or 4 days, but I'm on the mend. By the way, Dave, you're "double" I saw as the "lighter haired" of the pair. Ah, there's a winkin' emotie...now that's more like the ol' me!

Dave, every time I see that pic of you I think you have that mafia look. Maybe it's that serious expression. I half expect you to stroke under your chin and start talking in an Italian accent about Guido or something.
Glad to hear the goatee was nixed. I can't stand goatees. They make men look like *maaaaaahhhh!!!* BILLY GOATS! lol
Mustaches and beards, yes. Goatees, no. That's my vote.
I only died my hair blonde (like Loni Anderson blonde) for a time. It nearly ruined my hair! A little Sun-In is all for me now.
I'm with Susie. You guys have it much easier in the aging department. Not fair!

Man, what kind of weapon did you have to stick in her back to get her to marry YOU???? Then again, she looks like maybe her eyes don't focus too well.
(I'm partial to blondes, so of course I married a brunette who is also myopic. We men are very fortunate that all women are mostly blind when it comes to seeing the faults in their husbands.)

When my husband grows a beard, he looks like Santa Claus.
One day at Church, a little girl was being introdused to everyone, and she would not say hi to my husband. Finally, they said to her, now who is that? She shook the guys hand and said - 'you know, Santa Claus'.
This is a photo of Metropolitan Basil's Enthronment, my husband is the one in the upper center with the white beard wearing a black jebbee.

Marcus, COngrats on your beard. You must have a very patient wife. So's mine, but for a lot, and I mean A LOT of other reasons--besides our still remaining Catholic/Protestant Divide. (She's a REAL New England YANKEE). She loves me as I am, shorn of anything that makes me look like Willie Nelson on a two-day hangover after a week of not shaving. Nothing like a reddish patchy version of a salt n' pepper beard to keep the shaving business still strong. Keep yours on! Very distinguished.
But, I'll have to grant my dearest one thing: the damn thing itches like hell. Makes for a perfect facial Lenten form of penitence!
Steven-- from the (civilized) western half of your former Commonwealth of Mass. (Although we do have yearnings of retiring to an even more civilized part of New England you're also familiar with, Maine!)

Hey Susie,
I'll be on your Catholic morning show in Omaha tomorrow at 7:15 CST. We did the interview today. I had fun. I hope I don't sound like too much of a dope . . . I mentioned it in another thread.

COOL BEANS!
Kris and Bruce really do a terrific job, don't they? They're all super folks and I'm blessed and proud to call them friends. You'll probably sound as scholarly as your 'stache looks.
Thanks for letting me know, Dave. Kris didn't tell me since I was sick all week and wasn't in today for my usual afternoon volunteer stint.
