Laura,

Hi! I welcome you as a new moderator!

But, um... OK, I know curiosity killed the cat, but I'm going to go ahead and ask and I hope it's not in bad taste for me to do so... what's with the number of moderators coming in? Are we losing some and we need replacements? :(  (I'd hate to see our beloved moderators leaving!) Or is it that we're growing and we need more, or what? Just curious... you don't have to answer if it's none of my business...:?

But regardless, I'm hoping you'll enjoy your new position and looking forward to hearing more from you! God bless!

JMJ

Dear Cheri,
Thank you for your post!  You will find that the moderators who are joining the board are all staff members of the Coming Home Network.  In the past, only some of us have had an active involvement in our forum board.  However, ALL of the staff members wish to participate actively in what goes on in the forum.  Also we want all our members to realize how much the apostolate values those on our board, and that we want to personally help everyone who comes to this board seeking assistance.
Of course we are also very grateful for all our volunteer moderators, who have put so much time and effort into this board.
I hope this answers your questions.
God bless,
Laura

Good evening to everyone. I would like to take this opportunity to say that we at the Coming Home Network International will be here to assist everyone on the forum and do our best to serve all of the members in the love and truth of our Lord Jesus Christ. I too will be one of the new moderators. We are indeed extremely grateful to our faithful volunteers who have worked so very hard to help the many brothers and sisters who have come to the forum with questions and concerns. With our full-time staff members becoming active in the forum we hope to be able to continue to serve everyone to the best of our abilities.

Why the sudden influx of CHN staff as moderators? Were we having too much fun here?   ;)

Actually Laura, we do have a lot of fun here at times. Someone, not me of course, gets the sillies and it spreads like wildfire. However, there is a lot of information given here as well as discussion of scripture, doctrine and sacred tradition. I used to participate on the old Prodigy board and I find that this group is significantly more positive and supportive. In some ways, it feels like a family or a club.

BTW, I like you avatar. It reminds me of my attempt to teach junior high school science yeeeeaaarrrsss ago!!!

Laura, when Cliff taught high school there were only 8 states and seven elements on the periodic table...

Ha ha! Sometimes you guys are just too funny! :D Just had a mental picture of Rick (a.k.a. Kermit) sitting in the back seat thwacking out his tongue and sticking it to any flies that might have been crawling up the window. Hilarious!

Laura (and Jim),

Yes, thanks for letting me know. I was just concerned... When you get an organization that suddenly makes changes in high places, well, you know... happens a lot in business and sometimes people get lost in the shuffle somehow. But I guess you all were just jealous and wanted to get in on the action, huh? ;) Just teasing...

Seriously, though, I'm glad you are joining us, and you, too, Mister Anderson .

(P.S. Laura, I love your Calvin & Hobbes avatar! :). I miss that comic strip...)

God bless!

Nope.  Only the cool kids got to sit in the back.  I was up front with the nerds.

Kermie, on the other hand, was the really cool kid.  He was outside on the cypress log catching rays and rappin' with the gator!

Calvin and Hobbes is a deeply philosophical and intelligent read.  I think it's up there with the Summa.
While we are here, do you have any thoughts or suggestions on how we could improve or change the board?  Any ideas would be helpful.
I understand that flies are highly nutritional and very tasty.  At least that's what my brother always told me.

First off, I hope my favorite craggy old croc isn't going anywhere.  He is the one I get a chuckle from the most. ;)    Straight up.

Secondly, Calvin and Hobbes IS one of my all time favs.

Thirdly, David and Dave aren't going anywhere either, right?!!!!  Cuz I'd have to be givn a heads up' since,  well, they've become my peeps.  In my own Jackie world I mean, and not in a kooky-weirdo-girl sorta way.  lol

Finally, I have a slight difficulty with change.  It takes me forever to get RE-ADJUSTED once I get a groove on so I hope this isn't going to be long and painful

NEW  LauraN WROTE: While we are here, do you have any thoughts or suggestions on how we could improve or change the board?

HHmmmm.............        Uh bioy     Things are gonna change and Im gonna hate it.     I just got used to the Forum Tabs at the top !!! I didn't even see them for months......'

Well, whatever you think is best.  I'll get used to it.  Welcome aboard gang!

I'm still here, last time I checked. One sec, lemme check again . . . yep, it's me! ;)

Thanks for the clarification. I'm happy to be a "peep" in "Jackie world" anytime. In fact, you can even be a kooky-weirdo-girl if you like! We accept you as you are. :D :D Any perks for being a peep?  Better to be a peep than a pip, huh?

On a more (semi-) serious note, I know what you mean about change, though. I'm like that in many ways, too (along with being a workaholic, perfectionist, hyper-idealist, fussbudget, and lots o' other things). I like my routines and habits and schedules and don't like to mess with them much. It's a sort of "security" thing, I think. But I do recognize it as an odd quirk in my personality, and we all need to laugh at ourselves at times.

If you're like the rest of us, your wife could come up with a much longer list, most of which probably couldn't be posted! :D  (Do you hear mumbling coming from over your shoulder?)

Nope Dave, it just means I get ya. ( hear ya, feel ya ect........)

Somehow that doesn't sound half as cool as when Kayla says cool things.

Now husband and kids, they get perks!!  And let me tell ya, I'm one mean cook  ;)

and we all need to laugh at ourselves at times.
Aside from me being my own best comic. (I crack myself up mostly with silliness----can ya hear me Cliff?---)     It sometimes gets me in trouble, but I can find humor in just about anything, especially myself !!   Keeps me real.  Never mind laughter being the best medicine and all.

The only difference that’s planned, Jackie, is that you will no longer see my name on the marquee. That always made me uncomfortable.

Hi there Laura!  Nice to meet you.:D

Just so you know, in your thread hereinabove, you posted that this is not the place to pose specific questions pertaining "sexual" topics (agree--& thx) and I do notice the heading has been deleted on here.  Understand.  But I notice you recommended a certain website.   http://www.trueknights.org.

FYI, in case you didn't know, the website you posted is a specific place designed for men with problems with pornography addiction, and/or their spouses.  It is not a general place either for sexual discussion from all angles among Catholics.  Don't know if you knew this or not.

Blessings~

P.S. added:

IMO, moderators are great contributors of sensitivity and/or knowledge on the given topic, forum, etc., but when they take on the job of "babysitting", correcting, it really gets annoying. Hope this place will not resort to this.

a few qyuestions for Laura:

1)  How old are you?

2) How long married?

3) how old are your children?

4)  what do you even know of life?

5) I'd like to know your conversion story if you please

I notice that too, Connie. I remember from back in the psyching and theapizing days that some religious types and, believe it or not, some sargents in the military would totally panic when it came to sexual topics. However, I think that, even without that topic, these BBs can make a major contributation to the Journey that we are all on.  :)

For the record, when the issue is one of the violation of forum guidelines, it is our job to "babysit".  And one of the things that is inappropriate on this forum is questions of a personal nature that take on accusatory tones, like "what do you even know of life".

It is each user's decision whether to share personal information.  It is not our place to demand.  And it is certainly not our place to cast aspersions on one's journey.

For the record, many of our users are former cult members, or have been involved in abusive relationships, and they have no desire to share personal information.  That is their right, and it is our obligation to respect those decisions.  If we are going to ask questions, it should be done in a quiet, respectful manner ("if you don't mind sharing...") and only for a valid purpose.  Otherwise, let others reveal what they choose to reveal.  No one here has the right to expect information from anyone.

Except Kermie.  As long as you don't intend to fry him, he'll tell you anything!
