Well,

Here we are. I speak to you fellow list members for the final time as a Protestant. I leave this road and embark down to the lit road of truth with anticipation and excitement. I also start walking down this road having completed the foundational exercises by listening, watching and, of course, reading all I could about the Catholic life.

I now emabark on a continual discourse of truth- the "fullness of truth" that Christ himselve spoke of when he said that He was the Truth, the Way and The Life. I feel honored to be on that same road with some of the greats of the Catholic faith- Sheen, Flannigan, Chesterton, Kennedy and even Columbus. It has also been an honor, and continues to be, to be apaprt of the email groups that I am apart of. You all have provided for me things that I have needed to think about as well as learn. For that I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have no idea what it all means to me.

Dear Benedict,

Welcome from a fellow Texan (and convert as of 2005.)  I've lived in the Dallas area for 20 years and my folks are in Houston.  (In case you're  in the neighborhood!)

It can be pretty nerve-racking to "take the plunge," but I hope any time you have a question or concern you check it out on the forum or, if you have the opportunity, with your parish priest. My Protestant friends were sometimes pretty harsh in their reactions. But I am here to say the journey is more wonderful I can put into words, and being Catholic is better than I could have dared to hope a few short years ago. I hope and pray yours will be just as awesome.:D

Lisa

Dear Benedict,

I'm so excited that you've made the decision to come home to the Catholic Church!  As part of the staff of the CHN I just wanted to say hello and that we're here to give you any help we can in your journey.

God bless and I'll be praying for you,

Mary Clare

Dear Benedict,

I share your excitement about beginning your journey into Catholicland!  I joined the RCC in 2006, and it seems like it was last week.  I never tire of all the activities you describe: reading scripture, the catechism, great books about the Catholic church and spiritual life.  I watch EWTN a lot, to the point that family members get annoyed (I even switch the channel sometimes when someone is coming into the room!).  Going to mass is the height of spirituality, but just sitting before the Blessed Sacrament is grace-filling.  Do you get to go to mass, is there someone who can pick you up from the nursing home to take you?  If not, you can request your nearest parish to bring the Holy Eucharist to you.  As a former Protestant, I have literally begun a new life as a Catholic.  I cannot soak up the devotions and liturgies and knowledge of sacraments fast enough.  I am so happy for you that you have found this vital new life for yourself.  God bless and keep you.

Marsha
