So, this weekend the Mount Seminary and University hosted its annual retreat called "Mount 2000".  Over 1,700 high schoolers from the northeast particpated and the weekend was phenomenal.  We had a few speakers give some talks, a live praise and worship band, and of course, Mass and Adoration.

I just wanted to share three things that stuck out at me as I witnessed/participated/volunteered in this retreat.

The first--  the Sacrament of Reconciliation was available 24/7 all weekend long (except for during Mass).  There were over 30 priests hearing confessions and the final total of number of confessions heard was over 1,200!!!

The second--  Saturday night, just past 9pm, we had a Eucharistic Procession that lasted about an hour and a half.  This was absolutely amazing.  All the lights were turned off, there was only the candles and a spotlight that followed the Deacon with Monstrance as they processed through the entire gym.  It was a very powerful experience and just watching these young people adore Christ was so amazing.  Almost everyone was in tears.  Even I found myself crying without expecting it.  So powerful and inspiring.

The third--  Sunday morning Arch-bishop O'Brien and another Bishop (I don't remember who), plus all of the priests from the seminary and groups that came ((there was a good 50 of them)), celebrated Holy Mass.  At the end of Mass, for the closing "talk", the Vice Rector of the seminary stood to say a few words.  He implored all of us to close our eyes.  Then he asked for anyone who felt that they might be called to the priesthood or religious life to raise their hands.  Everyone had their eyes closed still.  He then asked them all to stand up.  Everyone opened their eyes and there were over 450 young people standing up!!!!!!!  The entire gym errupted with applause and all who stood filled out a notecard ((they ran out of notecards because so many people stood)) with their names so that the seminarians could pray for them.  It was such a moving moment.  Almost everyone was in tears.

All I can say is thanks be to God!

Or, "God is Good!"
"All the time!"

"All the time!"
"God is Good!"

I can't explain how much this retreat touched me.  It was truly remarkable to see so many young people seeking the face of Christ.  Truly remarkable.

Kayla,

Thanks for letting us in on the blessing, too.
Did you take any pictures that you can share?

Becky

I agree with Becky, Kayla, thank you so much for sharing that!  In another thread, I had mentioned a questionable show which has recently appeared on campus at two of Virginia's universities which has generated a lot of negative controversy.  I felt very sad and despair that college students would choose to bring such a show to their campuses. Then, I just felt so very uplifted that such a very WONDERFUL thing happened on the campus of your college! It gives me hope!  Thank you again for sharing that! May God bless you and your fellow students!  By the way, I hope that they have gotten the mouse problem stopped! Take care and thanks again for sharing about that wonderful weekend! Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!  :)

Ya know Becky, I kept forgetting to bring my own camera but I'm sure a few of my friends have some pictures from the weekend.  I'll have to see if I can get a hold of some of them.

But, yes, this weekend was extremely inspiring.  It was so wonderful to see that many young people on fire for Jesus!  It was great.

I would enjoy seeing the pictures, if you can get them.

It strengthens us to see that we are not alone in serving God, that He still has "thousands" of others who have remained faithful and have not "bowed to other gods."

That's incredible stuff, and extremely encouraging indeed. Revival is certainly taking place, and I think we'll be seeing more and more clear and undeniable signs of it in the next 20-30 years or so.
