Well, so it starts. Regular season for softball begins in only a few days. Never mind the snow outside. We're ready to play ball!
All joking aside, we leave tomorrow afternoon for North Carolina, where we will be participating in our first tournament of the season. On Monday we will then fly to Florida and play another tournament, before coming back to Maryland to begin regular season play.
I'm excited, to say the least. It's going to be fun. I'm going to be missing a lot of class, though, and that frightens me slightly. Not to mention, Coach isn't accomodating for Mass for these next two Sundays, so I'm slightly frustrated on that account.
At any rate, wish my luck! My first "real" Division 1 games!

| Hey Kayla- Where are you playing in Florida? I'm currently going to University of Florida in Gainesville (even though I'm really old!). If you guys are playing here I would try to go (cuz I'm sure it's free with a student ID). Wherever you're playing in Florida is warmer than it is in Md. I grew up in Silver Spring and remember what it's like in Feb. and March.

Haha, Rick. For some reason I can't see us making it quite that far (although, who knows, maybe by the time I'm a senior?). I remember when I was little, I used to watch the College World Series every year. It was my dream to one day play for, you might guess it, LSU.
Bill, I think we're playing at Fort Meyers? Yes, I believe that's correct. I'm not sure where that is in correlation to yourself, although I know it is about an hours drive from Ave Maria. I may be having a few people come up from there to see me play, which is pretty exciting.

With a lot of older folks here in Fort Myers you have quite a number of Mass options for Saturday afternoons
Resurrection of Our Lord 3:30 and 5 PM
Blessed Pope John XXIII 4PM
St. Columbkille 3 and 5 PM
St. Francis Xavier 3:30 and 5PM
St. Andrew in Cape Coral 4 and 5:45 PM
St. Raphael in Lehigh Acres (my parish) 5PM and 7PM - Spanish
Ave Maria University in Ave Maria 4PM
Got all these off http://www.masstimes.org

Thanks for the Mass information, Bill. Hopefully I will be able to make it to one of the Masses. The biggest difficulty is going to be in transportation-- the likelihood of my coach giving me permission and/or transportation to get there is not that great.
And sad news... We were supposed to leave about four hours ago for North Carolina, but tomorrow's games got cancelled due to rain. We may leave tomorrow, but there's supposed to be a huge ice storm hitting us (the University even cancelled all classes for tomorrow already), so it looks as though we might not be going to NC at all. Which in turn means that I will be stuck on campus until Tuesday. The only upside to that is that I'll be able to go to Mass on this Sunday.
Anywho. So, I'm pretty much the only person on my hall that's here right now. And I have two options for the night-- stay in my room watching movies and messing on the internet, or head upstairs to the softball apartment where there will be excessive drinking. Oh the joys of college life.
