My dh has been sick since Easter (actually in the hospital for a week). Since then he's still have sever abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Woohoo, fun. Not. (Anyway, he has a colonoscopy scheduled to get it checked out).
So every time I talk to her she's asking me if dh has asked to be anointed yet. She tells me he needs to have it done, how much it will help, and goes on and on about it. ROFLOL She comes from a Baptist background and has done her best to convert me. I think over time she may be the one converting
And, FTR, no dh hasn't asked for this sacrement. I know, I know. He says he doesn't want to bother Father, blah, blah, blah. It's his decision. And as a submissive wife I'm done nagging or arguing. (I could barely type that sentence out for laughing so hard {wipes tears})

I'm sort of wondering if perhaps your good husband may have diverticulitis which is an inflammation of little pockets in the intestine which some people form. Either that or I wonder if he might have some sort of parasitic (such as amoebic dysentery - pardon my spelling - or some such) infection. Anyway, I pray for God's healing for him.
As for "submissive wives" - what is THAT? I always thought that sumissive and wife are a contradiction in terms, ha, ha!

I will take anything at this point. I spent the day yesterday obsessing over cancer. So a bug or, heck, even Crohn's disease is better than cancer.

But you could let Father know your husband is sick and could use a prayer or two if he happens to be in the neighborhood while out visiting sick parishioners who, of course, might require anointing so Father just might happen to have the Oil of the Sick with him, along with a couple of extra hosts in a pyx ...

Most priests are so pleased to offer the sacraments! I think we sometimes feel like we have to be on our death bed to receive annointing of the sick, but that's not true! Even if it doesn't help him physically, the annointing unites us in a special way with the passion of Christ and sanctifies our sufferings! From the Catechism, CCC 1521:
"By the grace of this sacrament the sick person receives the strength and the gift of uniting himself more closely to Christ's Passion: in a certain way he is consecrated to bear fruit by configuration to the Savior's redemptive Passion. Suffering, a consequence of original sin, acquires a new meaning; it becomes a participation in the saving work of Jesus."
I have chronic health problems and have received the anointing several times. I can't tell you how much it has helped me endure the pain by knowing I had been consecrated in a special way to offer my sufferings. We can offer our sufferings anytime, and should, but through this sacrament they truly become united with Jesus in a special manner. Even though I have not received complete physical healing, I have had small improvements, but more than that I have received a feeling of peace from this sacrament, and I'm sure strength to carry on.
