Hi friends. I need some help. My boss has asked me to do some research on student loans. (A little boot shining never hurt) Her son is attending San Diego State and is a good student. My boss has been able to get staff funds for education for him, but her deal with him is for him to get some of his own. She wants him to pick up some of the responsibility. She is also supporting a daughter who is attending a Seventh Day Adventist University studying nursing.
Anywhooo, Do any of you fine people out there who have children in a college or university have any tips on student loans? I'm not big on loans but I also realize schooling costs are horrendous. (Heck, when I was in college, my most expensive year was $1900 per semester. And that included books, tuition and a private dorm room.)
So if any of you want to help me shine my boss's pumps, give me some tips.
Thanks
Rich

| I would suggest that he start with the counseling office at his university. If they can not help him they will know which office on campus handles the loan application process. He may also find out, in the process, that he might qualify for some grants and/or scholarship money.

I'll be waiting to hear what people have to say. Two in college and I have no idea how to approach the whole issue. FAFSA alone slays me.
It's so much more complicated now than it was in the 70's when I went to college.
And more expensive, too!

| If he doesn't mind taking a break from college for a year, if he signs on as an Americorps volunteer, he would get some experience and would also get a scholarship. If he doesn't want to take a break, there is a free web site, called Fast Web (http://www.fastweb.com) which will match him with scholarships and I THINK that it is free!
