| I just read on the EWTN website that April 20 will be Mother Angelica's 85th birthday. It would be wonderful if we would all send her birthday cards or E-mails to thank her for the groundbreaking (literally) work she has done for the catholic church. Thousands have converted and/or come back to the church due to EWTN programming. The Holy Spirit has done a tremendous work through her. My two cents!

This precious Nun, along with Father Groeschel, were the first ones I listened to on EWTN .... they literally did the "plowing" of the hardened soil of my heart.

EWTN was very instrumental in keeping me in the Church at a time when I was ready to leave. Mother Angelica herself was one of the first I heard talk about redemptive suffering. During a time when I was bedridden I would watch EWTN often and (no surprise) I would always hear something I needed to hear or get an answer to a question I had been pondering.
The Journey Home, Mother Angelica Live, Web of Faith, Life on the Rock, Rosalind Moss and Scott Hahn programs, all were very instrumental in my coming to know that the Catholic Church is the Church Jesus founded and it alone has the fullness of truth!

BTW, putting a "little something" in her BD card to support "her station" wouldn't hurt.

I don't have anything else to say at the moment. I just wanted to get this topic moved up higher in the list. I think ANY support we can give EWTN is good and appreciated.

Then you should have waited a few days to post, and that would bring it to the top again!!!!
EWTN is one of the many Catholic organizations that need and deserve our financial support. I just wish I had some finances to give 'em!

I can't thank God enough for that woman and her contribution to The Faith in this country.
Wouldn't you know, just as I'm typing this out, I'm hearing Hank, Jr. sing "If Heaven Ain't Alot Like Dixie" and the ironies coming out of Irondale, hometown of EWTN, just outside of Birmingham, where Hank, Sr. came from home.
Oh Lord, do we have a God with a great Irondale-ic sense of humor and timing! (Y'all think the So. Baptists could come close to putting together anything like EWTN? No way on earth or hell. It takes a great sense of humor in addition to brains and brass to pull off what Mother did for the Catholic Church in the heart of the Bible Belt, no less.)
Yeah, Hank, Heaven is a lot like Dixie, but Mother's too busy having fun "being a porcupine at a balloon party" to take that promotion yet.
Yes, folks --- those are Mother's Words! And you can bet your entire mortgage payments St. Peter's in no hurry to see her step up from her Dixie version of Heaven.

When the Lord moved us here from Steubenville, Oh., Mother had just begun her TV studios. It was truly all the excitement in the Church here, as we were only 2% Catholic, everyone knew everyone else or their family (I think now we are a bit above 3% of the population ). I remember the first time someone said, 'you need to come and see.' I am not sure any of us really understood the imensity of what was taking place, as it was just a few of us - maybe 12 to 20 people, sometimes less - sitting there watching, we all knew each other so it was kind of just a gathering. Then we(my family) were doubly blessed, in that when we were homesick the most - God would have someone here from the University that we knew - truly a bit of home, a bit of heaven combined.

| Rose, what a strange feeling you must have sometimes, living in the heart of protestantland, being such a small minority, but being literally next door to the Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament! Kind of like Alice in Wonderland! It must have been awesome watching it being built, and seeing the television network grow as it has. Do the protestants around you appreciate what they have?

Marsha, that's one heckuva question coming from a former Baptist in South Carolina, but I loved it!
I suppose also, that Catholics can be pardoned somewhat for committing the sin of pride when we consider that it was the Bishop of Rome, the Anti-Christ and Chief Rabbi of Satan's Synagogue who ventured into the Bible Belt realm of Bob Jones' crowd, and not the other way around. Now Dixie Catholics with help from Mother Angelica and Pope John Paul II's brave adventuresome missionary spirit can show what true Southern Hospitality's all about especially to the likes of the following bunch of characters.
Now what'll the likes of John Hagee, Bob Jones, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker & Co. do when they get to the Pearly Gates and St. Peter greets them with a familiar accent, saying "Welcome, Y'all ... and have a seat, but this'll take some time to sort some of your past statement out. Would you care to wait in Purgatory first? ... But I'll warn you, you'll be there for some time ... "
In the meantime, Mother Angelica's "porcupine party" keeps rolling like an unbroken circle.

Yes they are! I am so glad you let us know to look. They are on the EWTN website under Update on Mother's Condition. I love to see her looking happy and with her "children" around her. I sent a card with a little something extra in it. Wish I could do a lot more.
