Is anybody else enjoying the coverage of the pope's visit on EWTN? In my part of the world, EWTN is doing a much better job of covering his trip than the other stations. However, Fox is doing a pretty good job, along with other world news. I am really enjoying the telecasts.

Oh yeah! I have been really enjoying the EWTN broadcasts about the Pope! I even tried to win a couple of their "answer the question and get a free book" contests they had, but, sadly, must not have been the first one to answer! SIGH! Anyway, EWTN has been doing a GREAT job! They are, in my humble opinion, the BEST religious broadcasters in the world!

My husband and I were at his mom's the last couple days for her 90th birthday! I know I couldn't have gotten him to watch EWTN, but we did watch FOX's coverage of the Holy Father's UN speech and, as you said, it was very positive. They also covered, with appropriate disgust, Bill Maher's vile jokes about the Pope and the Church.
So, it was very good to have FOX as an alternative.

| Yes, yes and yes - it is great to hear people talk e.g. Fr Neuhaus and Raymond Arroyo who actually know the faith and what they are talking about - the the usual media coverage speculating on what the Holy Father will say - or shall we say - what they think the Holy Father should say.

Me too. I like it when those two get going on each other. They each have a great sense of humor. I like the way Fr. N. writes, also.

Just a little nudge to the conscience - I'm making an extra gift to EWTN because of the Papal coverage - without them we would see NOTHING of the extra meetings and the people and the happy Catholics. We would get fifteen fleeting seconds on the major news outlets and snarky and uninformed comment on the news channels. I am enjoying the full coverage of the ecumenical and interreligious meetings, the slow passage of the Pope through the crowds, even the little flubs in the ceremonies - people bumping into each other, getting the Pope up to pray before the music is finished and everybody freezes and waits, the over-excited reaction of some guests, I love all of it!
The commenters above are right - the interplay between Arroyo and Neuhaus and their guests is entertaining and enlightening. There is genuine affection and comfort between them that you don't see between other commentators on other channels - thanks be to the Holy Spirit!
The rebroadcast in the evening makes it all possible. Viva il Papa! Viva il EWTN!

Yes, EWTN has done a masterful job. Raymond Arroyo and Fr. Neuheus have been superb. I have been able to watch or listen to all the events, even at work. I have a job that allows me to wear my earplugs and listen as I do my work on my computer.
Thanks be to God for this great apostolate.

Kudos to Raymond Arroyo and Fr. Neuhaus for their knowlegeable commentary. It makes the viewing more personal, like having fellow catholics talk to fellow catholics.
However, during the mass at St. Patrick's this morning, I found myself following the Fox news channel. Bill Hemmer did an excellent job of explaining the mass, I guess it was for non-catholics who might not have known what was going on. He was quite sensitive and respectful of Pope Benedict XVI and the mass, and he had some added info about the cathedral which was interesting. I got the feeling he might be catholic, but don't know for sure.

| Nudge already considered - I have decided to become a monthly donor - they need us and we need them and really - a few times not eating out will only do me good.
