I got officially engaged to my Catholic boyfriend this past Saturday at a family reunion and this Monday I started the conversations about wanting to have a Catholic Wedding. I am excited and a little scared. I am sad that I wont beable to have a Nuptual Mass but i am afraid that its will be just to exclusive if over half of those who attend cant participate in partaking the Eucarist.
Does anyone have resources online to the regulations of a Catholic Wedding verses a Nuptual Mass? Can me and my Husband, at that point, still take communion (pre-consecrated host) in the service?
Please pray for us all in this time, everyone is still very elated but this occation is when it finally came out to my parents that I am converting even though I started talking to them about this casually last year in April.
Callie

Congratulations!
God grant to you both, and your families, many blessed years of peace, health, and happiness.

First of all, congratulations.
The regulations would vary by diocese. You may have a nuptual mass if you wish, but if you choose to be married outside of mass, you will not be permitted to receive communion. I would suggest that you and your intended go to mass earlier in the day and receive communion together at that time.

Thank you, and thanks for the information, that helps alot, as I had hoped to include pre-concecrated host in the service if I had completed RCIA at that point.
So there are no church wide regulations on what occurs in a (non-mass) Catholic Wedding? That is interesting.

There are rubrics (rules) associated with Catholic weddings but the bishop of the diocese can waive many of them. For example, with advance planning and the proper circumstances, the bishop can allow a Protestant minister or even a judge to perform the ceremony. An "official witness" of the Catholic Church must be present, but the official witness can be anyone authorized by the bishop. There is a tremendous amount of flexibility granted to bishops when it comes to authorizing marriage ceremonies. So the bottom line is that your own bishop will decide what is allowed and not allowed at your wedding. However, communion is normally out of the question if mass is not part of the celebration.
