Help, I like to click on the RECENT button. It seems that it only shows things in a chronological order, but going back for much longer than I want.

In the old forum, we could select 24 hours, or past week or month. Is this possible now, or can it be added?

Thanks

I don't think its possible.  Any topic can be sorted in chronological (or any other) order by clicking on the column heading, and you can set the system to email you every new message that is posted, either individually or as a daily digest.  Otherwise, I think the "Recent" tab is the best we'll get.

Monte, I just upgraded to Internet Explorer 7, and the XML button at the bottom of the screen now allows you to select only the most recent posts, and it's configurable.  I'm not sure of all the details of how it works, but it does work.  Using the previous version of IE or Firefox, it just displayed the programming text.

My problem is that I have become leery of Microsoft products. On the other hand, if it makes it possible to use the forum more efficiently, I'll see. Also, downloading is so slow as I have only dial up ISP available/affordable.

Is there a source for a CD of the latest IE 7? I guess so, on the MS site.

I also do not use Microsoft products except when absolutely necessary.  I use IE on this forum for the time being because all features are not yet available on my browser of choice, Firefox.

IE7 is not yet "officially" released but is in the last stages of testing.  The current version is called "Release Candidate 1" which means its pretty stable but not yet final.  I downloaded it on the recommendation of some security sites which indicated it improves the security of both IE and Windows XP.  However, the file was around 15 MB which would be a terrible download on dial-up.  It can be downloaded and burned on a CD if you know someone who has that capability.

I don't think it's available on CD yet, although that will probably come when the final release is ready.

Windows XP would be aproblem also, I have W98SE, on a machine with 127Meg of Ram. It is supposed to be 128, but when I check, only 127 are usable. Thus, many programs bog down.

I am getting used to searching down the list with my eyes, the old fashioned way. Also, apparently the notification that a reply post has come is working.

Thanks for your service for us here at CHN.
