I just wanted to introduce myself here and hope to get into some posting. I used to post often here before the boards were re-vamped but couldn't get into my old account so opened a new one.
I was confirmed last Easter (2007), had been baptized Catholic as a baby but raised pretty much atheist. My search for God and meaning led me all over the place until finally encountering Jesus about 6 years ago. Then the labyrinth of Protestantism, never quite fitting in with the various churches I tried.
Came to Catholicism mostly because the best spiritual readings were written by Catholics, also fell in love with Dorothy Day, and the Catholic Worker movement was a major witness and influence.
Have been going to my local parish for nearly 2 years, but having a difficult time breaking in socially, not very many social opportunities to meet the congregation unless you are very bold and outgoing. So it's been an extremely lonely time for me and have precious little opportunity to talk to other Catholics about the faith. Thought the board might fill in the gap a bit.

All the old accounts and messages were lost when the old forum software crashed, so everyone had to register all over again. We're 11 months old now on the new software, and today we went over 15,000 posts. We're getting close to 400 members and 2,000 topics, and growing exponentially. As much as we love new members, we love to have our "old regulars" back too.
