Just thought I'd introduce myself to the group. My name is Mike and I am a recent revert to catholocism (sp?)...well a closet revert, due to the fact I haven't told my wife, which may be a big reason why I am here.
I grew up Catholic (alter boy, weekly mass, sacraments up through conformation etc..), but became greatly disheartened during the sex-abuse crisis in 2004 (I am from the Boston area)
Well here comes my wife a devout Baptist into my life and before I know I converted. Yet, I never felt right...never felt like I belonged. Well since then we have married and have 2 kids. I recently told her I am Catholic again and she brushed it off...but I truly want to go back to church. I am using EWTN to freshen up..and I truly believe the Lord brought me there to witness that couple the other night on Journey Home. THe light truly went off and I am so glad that its turned on. I miss mass greatly and can't wait for a Sunday when I can go to church and maybe bring my new family along.
.I am hoping to get the courage through this forum to "stand up" for my beliefs and be at one with the church again.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post...I look forward toward solidifying this journey.

| Welcome aboard Mike. I am doing the same thing you are. I recommend you go to Dave Armstrong's website: http://www.biblicalcatholic.com and Paul Thigpen's website: http://www.paulthigpen.com. They have lots of articles explaining the biblical and apostolic foundations of the truth taught by the Catholic Church

Hi,
Welcome home from an old Southern Baptist.
We didn't do anything with church for the first ten years of marriage. Then I said, well I am not going to be a Roman Catholic (like any good Southern Baptist). My husband said, well I am not going to be Southern Baptist ( like any good Roman Catholic, by way of Polish National Catholic). So God has a great sence of humor - and I truly love both 'lungs' of the Church, East and West - we, for 28 years now, are Eastern Catholic
So just hang tight, the Lord will get you right!

I I joined the Church this past Easter- the change is still rocking my whole family. I think that you need to sit down and have a serious talk with your wife- perhaps attend Mass on a Saturday or before the Protestant service that you attend on Sunday ( r after). I would allow your wife some time to digest the change - don't push her to join the church right away or even attend with you if she is very threatened by this change. but perhaps have some apologetic literature and DVDs available. The longer you keep it secret the more bitter the emotional fall out could be.

Good advice Kim. Keeping secrets is bad for any marriage, no matter what the secret is! Trust will be an issue for Mike's wife if she feels left out of the decision-making. Let God handle the fallout!

A lot of our users never (or almost never) post; as I write this, 118 people have read your message, and you are in all our prayers.
