I have had to purge some users, and I apologize if anyone who is sincerely interested in the Catholic faith was dropped inadvertently.

The users who were purged were, as far as I can tell, "users" who joined using a bot (an automated device) using foreign email addresses, and mostly including web sites for questionable commercial products, or blogs in Russian or a similar language.  For various reasons, I question the legitimacy of both the users and the web sites.  In some cases, IP addresses do not match the email addresses or web sites, or they are "spoofed," and there are other tell-tale signs.  Also, no user who registered in the last two weeks was purged.

No user who has ever posted a message was purged.  Guests may view anything here without restriction, so those who have chosen not to post still have full access to read anything on the site.  Any user who has contributed to the discussion, even with a single post, was not purged, although one did have to be deleted recently because of violation of the forum guidelines.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  If you find yourself unable to log in, it is a simple matter to re-register.  You can help to prevent this from ever happening to you again by simply posting a "hello" in Fellowship Hall.  Otherwise, I can't guarantee that it will not happen again.  We have had to purge the userbase twice because of the posting of pornographic web sites, anti-Catholic sites, and the use of questionable tactics as those mentioned above.

I appreciate your vigilance, "Kermit."  :-)   Seriously, though, this site is a sanctuary for me and I would not appreciate it if all that garbage were to leak through.  (Not the people - the porn and such.)  So, thank you!

Jill
