Welcome, new and returning users, to the all-new Coming Home Network Forum!
For those who are first-time visitors, the old forum software crashed on October 6, 2006, and a decision was made at that time to move to this new forum software. That's why the forum areas seem so empty. We're literally starting over from scratch.
NOTE: Edited to remove reference to the old forum, which is no longer online.

Hi,
The old forum with its message archives is still online on a read-only basis at this location.
I've tried several times to go back to the archives but I've never been able to get anything. All I get is the headings and the titles. Will they ever be available? Or have they been lost?
Sincerely,
Juan

To the best of my knowledge they are lost. Steve promised me he would try to resurrect them, but they've never come back. I've asked him to take it offline completely and put up a link to the new forums, but that hasn't happened either.

I'm just posting my first message here so I don't get dropped again. Just wanted to let everyone know how much I enjoy the forum. Also to let the moderators know how grateful I am for the work they do here. You will probably be hearing from me in the future. Thanks again. Joe

I hope we will. Sorry that it's sometimes necessary to purge the user list, but we get so many automated registrations from spammers that it's occasionally necessary.
Feel free to look around and contribute as you see fit. If you have any questions or comments, just jump right in. The water in the Tiber is fine!

| Hello. I posted here once before, before the crash. So I just re-upped and here is a message to keep me current. One of these days soon I expect to post my story on the Conversions story forum. Anyway, i have been lurking and reading this stuff for a year, and love you all. I come here to get cheered up when I need a boost.

Hello All, My name is Matt and i'm new to the Forum. im 22 Years old and am a practising High Anglican. About 4 months ago I began getting inclinations and stirrings about Catholicism. I became a Christian about 5 years ago at University in Scotland.
Im currently in Jerusalem doing some graduate work. Anyway, after 4 months of reading a ton--I absolutely love the writings and theology of The Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI, and the Church Fathers,--, a good shove by the Holy Spirit, and after discussing with some Priests from Britain, I am on my way to an introductory meeting tomorrow with a Priest from the Notre Dame Centre here in Jerusalem to talk about Conversion.
Anyway just wanted to say I also read a lot of conversion story material. And thanks to people like you all it really grounded me and was even more confidence building in making these final steps. Look forward to reading more on these forums and having lively discussion!
Matt

You've come to the right place! I am so happy you are considering the Catholic Faith. I will pray for you. This is a true calling for you.

Hi, Matt, welcome to the Coming Home Network. We're glad to have you here with us.
As you probably know, High Anglicans are being increasingly drawn to the Catholic Church, and the Church has made special provisions for them by allowing married Anglican/Episcopal priests to become Catholic priests (see the Pastoral Provision web site) and by allowing a specially modified form of Anglican liturgy for parishes that accompany their priests (see the Anglican Use web site).
We have several former Anglican/Episcopal members here, including some former priests, and I'm sure they would be happy to help you in any way as you progress on your journey.
In fact, if you want to send us some tickets, we'll even all come to Jerusalem to support you personally!
Once again, welcome to CHN and to the Catholic Church.

Hi,
My name's Leah, Im 20, studying Law at uni and Im from Adelaide Australia. Ive never been on here before but my friend recommended it to me a few days ago, and right now I just need to talk to some other people who are like me.
I grew up Baptist but have spent the last few years of my life as a pentecostal. But about 9 months ago I started looking into the Catholic faith, and now Im stuck in this limbo between seeing the flaws in my old faith, but not being ready to fully accept Catholicism. I feel totally lost.

Hi, Leah, welcome to CHN. We're glad to have you here with us.
There are many who can sympathize with what you're feeling, and I'm sure they'll be responding in the days and weeks ahead. We have a strong presence of former Baptists and former Pentacostals on board who will be able to offer you help and suggestions. Please feel free to ask any questions or share your thoughts and feelings.
Most of our users are from the U.S. but we do have a few Ozzies lurking around. There are probably more who have never shared their location with us.
On Monday, April 23rd at 8 p.m. Eastern US Time, The Journey Home will feature the replay of a roundtable discussion with three former Baptists, including Fr. Gray Bean, David Currie, and Steve Ray. You might find that program informative.
Welcome again to CHN, and please let us know if we can help in any way.

Hi Leah,
I can relate. The analogy of "swimming the Tiber" has more applicability than just the idea of becoming Catholic. Truly, there was a point when I'd waded in and gone about half-way across and then wasn't so sure I could keep moving forward. I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep swimming and yet I knew I didn't want to go back and I couldn't stay where I was or I'd drown!
My sponsor kept me going, kept showing me that the way forward was the way to go, that despite misgivings (which have since been cleared up,) the Truth was to be found on the other side.
Do you have someone to talk to, to ask your questions of, to clear things up for you? This site is pretty good about it, but it also helped to have my own "personal trainer," so to speak. I hope you have someone like that.
Yep, many of us have felt exactly like you feel. It's a very bizarre feeling at times, but knowledge and understanding bring clarity.
God bless you!
Jill

To PrincessLeah: I have been praying for you since I saw your post. Have you read any books by converts to the Catholic faith or books examining the biblical basis for the Catholic faith? I can recommend several that have helped me lots, and I am sure others on this board can also.
Know that you are not alone. Your feelings of being alone, "I'm the only one" .... well we all felt that. In my experience, it comes with the journey.
I recently had a conversation with a cradle catholic on the staff at my church which brought those feelings to the fore again. (She has no clue how this conversion feels).
I notice that you were "baptist" and are now "pentacostal". I wonder, was there an arugment about speaking in tounges along the way someplace? (i.e.: you can' be saved unless you do speak in tounges or you can't be saved if you do speak in tounges). I went thru that. Now I know that people who do and people who don't ALL have the same struggle with holiness: I think talking about our fight for holiness is a much more profitable topic to pursue.
I can't resist: with a nickname like Princessleah: are you a Star Wars fan?

Hello,
I just registered today and the directions seemed to indicate that yoou had to participate within the first 7 dys so that's what I'm doing.
My husband and I came into the Catholic Church 2003 from the ELCA Luthern Church. We are so pleased. During the time between making our decision and starting RCIA listening to the "Journey Home" programs from the EWTN library became my support. I spent many hours next to my computer to do that. At that time the program was not broadcast here. I learned so much. It was nice to be able to select specific topics or faith backgrounds to listen to.

Hi Diana!
Welcome! I just joined the Church this past Easter from the LCMS. My family isn't joining me and now seems scattered to the four winds. Funny how moms hold down the fort, isn't it?
I am so glad to be Catholic! Truly, that analogy I once read of the Church being the big ship and all the little Protestant denominations being life boats towed along beside has been so true for me. Big ship? It's like a deluxe ocean cruiser, big enough for a billion people and with 20 centuries of history inside. It will take me 84 lifetimes to explore every nook and cranny. Or... I could be paddling along in one of those little lifeboats.... No thanks!
Jill

Hi, Diana, welcome to the Coming Home Network. We're happy to have you here with us.
It's not absolutely required that you participate within seven days, but sometimes registrations from automated spammers make it through our screening, so I occasionally prune users who have never posted. Non-members have full access to read everything on the forum, so if someone has chosen not to post, they really haven't lost anything. They can still visit as a guest and read everything.
Besides, if you don't post, we can never get to know you! We glad you joined us, and we look forward to hearing your faith story whenever you're ready to share it with us.
Welcome again to CHN, and welcome home.
