Did they ever get the incompatibility between firefox and this forum worked out? I have continued to use internet explorer to participate but wondered if anybody else had tried again with forfox?

I tried yesterday and there are still problems.  There appear to be some inherent incompatibilities between Firefox and the WowBB software, as others are reporting the same problems on other forums that use the same software.

There appear to be other problems with Firefox 2.x as well.  I do hope they get them corrected soon.

I use Firefox, gosh, I can't bring myself to use IE anymore!  So I'm sure I'm missing out on some fancy smancy stuff.  But that's ok.  I prefer the ease and use of FF any day.  I can skimp on fancy smancy ;)  After all, Lent is coming up, consider it a sacrafice, lol.

Hello, George. Welcome to the CHN forum. We look forward to your participation.

You will find more information on Firefox in this thread. It is usable, but there are some things that don’t work too well.

Personally, I use a Macintosh with OmniWeb and Safari, so the Firefox issues don’t affect me. But it seems that on the PC, if a person isn’t using Internet Explorer, he is using Firefox. The forum software is set up for a WYSIWYG interface for both these browsers, which render some of the manual controls counterproductive. Our experience shows that it takes a few days to get used to what works and what doesn’t. Then the user settles on a certain approach and everything is fine.

Be sure to check the Help area (button in the upper right hand corner of the lobby). If you still have problems, let us know right here and we’ll coach you through it.

David

Welcome to the forum.  We're glad to have you with us, and we look forward to hearing your faith story when you're ready to share it.

Most people report no problems at all, other than some features of the editor (such as the spell checker) not working at all.  In fact, the spell checker button doesn't even appear if you're using Firefox, so you wouldn't know there was a problem unless you read the help file.

I found a problem with screen refresh such that I could read a message, then go back to the topic listing and it would show as still unread, or post a message and then not be able to read it until the next day.  There are a few other minor incompatibilities as well, but the main problem for me was the screen refresh, and I never could find a way around it.  But I'll also admit I haven't tried it recently.

I am trying the new version of Firefox (2.0.0.3) and it seems most of the compatibility issues have been resolved.  There is still a problem in that some of the editor features are not available, most notably the hyperlink button, which greatly simplifies adding URL links to other sites.  The spellchecker is also not available, but Firefox has its own built-in spell checker that works fine.
