As I stated in the other thread, I made my confession today, the priest told me I could now recieve the Eucharist, I discovered I was never confirmed, though I did make my first communion as a child. Should I wait, spend some time in adoration before partaking? I just know my communion experience in the Protestant churches was not that profound, and I certainly don't want to partake casually, would appreciate input from seasoned Catholics. ;)

There is no need to wait.  I think you need to unite yourself to our Savior in the special way he gave us:  the Eucharist.  You need the strength of grace that only the Body and Blood of our Lord can give you.

Perhaps you are correct, I can't sleep tonight, and I'm having the kind of nightmares I have not had in ten years, I did not hold anything back that I'm aware of in my confession, what's happening to me?!

Mark,

That one's easy! Uh... "Could it be... Satan?" ;)

Seriously, though, never mind the "Church Lady" impression...

But the Devil does NOT want you back in the Church. You have really made him mad (I would use stronger language, but I dare not on this site :P) because you have dared to go against him. He thought he had you in his corner and you rebelled. He isn't taking too kindly to that. Now that you have found yourself back in the Church, brace yourself: things might not be too easy for you. But you have to stand strong and remember to hold fast to your faith. And find Catholic support where you can get it! You're going to need it. You need to lash yourself to the Rock to withstand the fierce and fiery winds of fury that Satan is going to try to hurl at you because he is going to try and pull you back in. Don't give in! He will sorely tempt you, but keep the Faith! You know deep down that you don't want to go back into that Hell!

We're here for you. Just remember that. And I'm sure I speak for many of the others on here when I say that we are praying for you. If you need us, we're here.

when i first came back to the faith,,,I found a catholic  spiritual director,,,you could  call the church you went to confession at and ask    if they can recommend a priest to speak with you weekly or a good catholic, maybe someone from the holy face of Jesus society or the Knights of Columbus, you  need an Elder to talk to weekly, preferrably a priest,        explain you just came back to the church,,,,,,,you need direction and prayer, this person will offer sufferings up for you pray for you and walk with you until you can walk on your own, find out if theres any healing masses in your area ....

The Rosary...over and over...or the Divine Mercy Chaplet is also good late at night when you can't sleep...and if you fall asleep with the Rosary in your hand that's not a bad thing either!  One of my friends says she sleeps with her Rosary under her pillow at night, you might try that.

I speak from some experience here, I used to have terrible dreams.  But they dried up after once in a dream I told the person tormenting me "I don't care what I used to be, that is over now and you're no longer part of my life!"  Someday you'll find peace also.

prayers,

jean

Dear Candlemass,

Sure thing!  I've been having such bad dreams about faith matters.  I'm dreaming about Catholics and Prostestants and being warned that I am on the path of deception, and doubts about Mary and questions about the authenticity of the Catholic faith.  All of this just within the past few days.  I start to get confused as to WHO is trying to tell me What.  Was that the Devil, no maybe it was Jesus.  Hmmm...or maybe you've just been deceived all along.  No, maybe you've just been deceived since your inquiry into the Catholic faith.  And the voices can get really mixed up at times.  The dreams are so troubling that I will wake from them and be very disturbed in my spirit.

So yes, I understand what you mean about the struggles being even worse at night.  That's when we have a weaker will, when we're tired.  Seems I have lots of struggling and troubling dreams to look forward to. :(

Darlene
