After RCIA class, on the way through the parking lot, a fellow class member told me that he was a freemason. Also, that he had formerly held the position of lodge master.
I had thought that the RC Church did not approve of freemasonry. Has this changed?
My view of freemasonry has been that it is an occult esoteric "counterfeit" of the church.
What is the authoritative view of the RC church on masons?
Should I raise this general issue in the RCIA class?

Catholics United for the Faith have a Faith Fact called "Can Catholics Be Freemasons?". The short and simple answer is no.
I would print this document (there's a link to a PDF at the bottom) and give it to him and to the RCIA coordinator, then leave it to them. Your RCIA coordinator should be aware of Church teaching regarding Masons, as should the person in question. Beyond that, I don't believe it is your position to judge, nor do I think the matter should be brought up publicly unless they start a discussion. If they do, you will be prepared to present Church teaching on the matter.
