So, I hope that everyone had a good christmas!
On the afternoon of Christmas Day, I told my mom and sibblings over lunch that I was looking at the Catholic church and in RCIA. I told them that I was converting as long as God kept on showing me that that was His will for my life. They are evangelical-non demoninational Christians. Thankfully, my mom already had an idea, since I had discussed it with one of her Catholic friends. I was really blessed with how they took it. At first, they challenged me from a Biblical standpoint. I thought that I was prepared since I have read tons of books on converts and how to defend the Catholic faith, et..... There were a couple questions that I told them that I would get back to them on. But, near the end of that topic of dicussion, my mom and them said they would support me in whatever decisions that I made. They said that I was accountable to God for my actions and if that was the way the Lord was leading me, I needed to follow Him no matter the cost. Then, my mom asked why I was hesitant to join. I didn't know that she picked that up from me. I told her it was because I didn't want to sever relationships with other friends or ruin the living situation with the other people that I am living with. My mom actually said that I will find out who my true friends are through this situation. Then my brother chimed in and said Jesus wants us to take up our cross and follow Him. My family is not interested in converting. They feel led by God to be protestant. But, at least they support me, which I am thrilled about. It will not always be easy. I know that they will question me a lot. They still have the typical mindset that there are Christians in the Catholic church, but that the ones who truly have a relationship with Christ do not agree with all the church doctrine. But, that's ok. So, that is an answer of prayer. There are still others, that it is not the time to tell them yet. Please keep me in your prayers!
God Bless and Merry Christmas!

Having your family's support is a real blessing, Michelle, as many here will testify. We all wish you the best. Perhaps through your example, your friends and family will take a new look at the Catholic faith. Remember, as St. Francis told us, "Preach the gospel at all times; use words when necessary".

| How nice that you family took your conversion well. As one of the members still dealing with fallout 9 months later it is nice to see someone whose jouney is going smoothly at least familywise.

| The evangelic challenge to the Catholic believer "Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus?" has always struck me as a presumptuous statement implying the evangelical has had a divine revelation that he will enter eternal life, and further implying the catholic believer, who "works" for salvation and practices various forms of idol worship, is at most nominaly christian. The catholic believer must always be prepared to address the question with sound teaching with a scriptural basis. The lingo of "a personal relationship" does not appear in scripture as far as I know, yet there are loads of reference to being called by God to repent for sins, having sins washed away, being baptised in the holy spirit to help us on our journey of faith, being adopted into the family of God, practicing the obedience of faith through good works, and being judged and rewarded based upon those works at the end of our earthly sojurn. There are several good books on these topics, most written by protestant converts to the catholic faith. Let us thank God we have these converts and their help so the catholic believer can answer the questions, " Are you saved? Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus?"

| Just wanted to say congratulations Michelle! It's a big deal not to have family against you. I'm really happy for you. God will use you to speak to them surely.

God's peace. Our relationship with Jesus doesn't get much more personal than taking the whole Christ--body, soul, and divinity--into ourselves at Eucharist! Blessings, ~Br_Carlo~
