It has been a long year's journey to get to this point, but my wife and I are finally starting RCIA classes tonight. We are both a bit nervous about what to expect. The fact that we are able to start classes at all is a real blessing. The RCIA team at our local parish kept waiting for more interest in classes before starting, then finally just said that now it was too late and we would have to wait till the fall.  At mass this past sunday we got a wonderfull surprise, when the father pulled us aside and said that he would be happy to teach us RCIA classes privately, and we could start as soon as we would like. What an answer to prayer! I would like to ask everyone to remember us in prayer as we take the next step in our journey home.

Praise God, Andy, I am just thrilled for you. What a blessing to have private lessons with the priest! That's just fabulous.

I was fortunate in the same way and will always be deeply grateful to the generous priest who took me under his wing.

Relax and enjoy the session tonight. Hope you'll tell us about it tomorrow.

Becky

Hi Andy,

Congratulations! You are also blessed in being able to have the one-on-one attention of a priest. You'll probably be able to avoid a lot (or all) of the problems we hear about in this forum concerning RCIA.

I would like to thank everyone for their prayers. We had a wonderfull time at RCIA classes last night. Our session was to last about an hour, but we lost track of time and our first session was almost two hours long. The father had requested that we bring along our bibles and any other relevent resources that we had. So he was a bit surprised to see us show up, each with an arm load of books and a binder full of research, ready for some serious study. Our time went by so fast and felt more like a time of fellowship than classes. At the end he assured us that there would be no problem enter the church this easter vigil, with the comment that we know more about catholism than most catholics in our parish. We are meeting again next week to properly start the RCIA program on a fast track to bring out any areas that our own reseach has missed and to answer any other questions we may have. All I can say is God is good!

Andy, I am not a bit surprised to hear this news, but I'm certainly happy.

I remember when the kind priest with whom I had been meeting said the exact same thing to me.  Each time we would meet, I had written down a myriad of questions.  I would ask one, and then write down his responses till he finally answered each of my questions.  Seldom had I ever encountered a person with such patience.
