My husband had a vasectomy- ay the time I reluctantly agreed becuase our sone had some major problems at birth and then I had to spend the latter potion of my second child's  gestation on bedrest- I was informed that a third pregnancy wouldn't be a good idea. Since I will be 50 soon and my husband is 54, how do we reconcile this steriliation issue with the church's birth control views?

The simple answer is that the church requires confession not reversal.

That said many people choose to pursue a reversal in order to "put things right" and often recieve a sense of healing from doing so. In your case I would suggest talking to your local priest.

DrDave is correct.  The Church considers this a forgivable sin that must be confessed and may be forgiven.  Consult with your priest, preferably with a private appointment rather than while others are waiting, so your priest will have the time to address the issue and offer guidance.
