Kris Sarver, Former Atheist

May 2, 2016

Kris Sarver was raised Catholic, but after asking complicated questions about Hell as a child, she figured that Catholicism, and religion in general, were for simpletons and the uneducated. She pursued a life as a scientist with the military, and after a failed marriage, decided that she should end her life. It was during that suicide attempt that she first felt the presence of a loving God. That relationship culminated in her rediscovery of the Catholic faith of her youth, which she joyfully practices today. ... more

Jennifer Fulwiler, former atheist

March 14, 2016

Marcus Grodi welcomes return guest Jennifer Fulwiler, a former atheist whose full conversion story was detailed in her book, Something Other Than God.  Jennifer grew up happy in an atheistic home where the mantra was, “seek the truth and question assumptions; do your own investigations”.  She lived out her high school and college years as an intellectual with no belief in God and adopted a counter-cultural persona.  It was not until meeting and marrying her husband that her faithless world began to develop cracks.  The birth of their first child ... more

Encountering Christ as a “Cradle Atheist” with Jennifer Fulwiler

March 14, 2016

“I know that love is the meaning of life. I know that serving others and kindness — which I see so many of my atheist friends doing — I know this is objectively the right way to live.” But I couldn’t get there with this strict atheistic view.  ... more

Jeffrey Morrow, Jewish Atheist turned Catholic Christian

February 29, 2016

Marcus Grodi welcomes Jewish convert and former Evangelical Protestant Jeffrey Morrow to discuss his journey from atheism into belief in God, Christianity, and ultimately, Catholicism. Jeffrey grew up not knowing that Christmas or Easter had anything to do with Jesus! Not only was he not familiar with Christianity, but he simply didn’t belief any God existed! Challenged by peers in college, he realized that Christianity is one of the most historically-defensible ideologies. He realized his atheism took more faith than belief in God. After coming to know Jesus Christ, ... more

Paul Keough: A Revert from the Church of Christ

January 11, 2016

Paul grew up the 9th of 13 children in upstate New York. His mother was a faithful Catholic but his father was a vocal agnostic. He went to church but didn’t understand what was going on. Because he lived in an anti-catholic town and also because of his father’s agnosticism, Paul saw being a Catholic as a weakness. At sixteen, he declared that he was an atheist. Following his father as a role model, he made the goal of his life to follow pleasure. Soon after he began to ... more

Dr. Holly Ordway: Former Episcopalian

June 1, 2015

Holly grew up “culturally Christian”. The family never attended church and their wasn’t a Bible in the house but there was no hostility to religion. She was gripped by the Chronicles of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings. She had a glimpse of a world full of beauty and darkness but the darkness didn’t win. In college she became indoctrinated in staunch atheism. Yet she felt it was important to try to be a good person. After she moved to California to take a teaching job, she ... more

I Found Jesus in a Graveyard

December 29, 2014

My journey of faith began in the Cub Scouts at the age of eleven, working towards my religious medal. While the priest was explaining the Episcopalian theory of the Eucharist, I was daydreaming, my fingers doodling in the plush, cream-colored carpet. It would be an understatement to say that my soul did not burn for my faith. During one of these sessions, my father asked the priest a series of increasingly pointed questions about the hereafter. Some years earlier, my father had been rushed to the hospital and experienced a ... more

Devin Rose: Former Atheist then Baptist

April 21, 2014

Devin was reared as a child as an atheist. In high school he became a militant atheist. In college, he began to have panic attacks. He prayed to God, “I don’t believe in you. But if you’re real help me!” He then picked up a Bible and began to read. After some months, a breakthrough occurred and he began to believe in God and his anxieties began to decrease. Through the witness of Baptist friends he began to attend church, accepted Christ into his life and was baptized. ... more

Into the Fold

June 10, 2013

Until September 2011, I had no interest in religion at all. Although I was christened into the Church of England, I did not practice and, as my father was a complete atheist, I was in fact encouraged not to practice the Christian faith. I grew up in the Southeast of England and attended Church of England schools where we had religious instruction in the Protestant faith, in which I had very little interest. ... more

Frank Cronin: Revert from Atheism

March 11, 2013

Frank Cronin spent his life through his first year in college in Catholic educational institutions, though, for the most part, it was a cultural rather than spiritual endeavor.  Working and switching to a community college, he made a conscious decision to become an atheist.  It lasted for 14 years, while, interestingly, maintaining a moral code.  Frank shares with Marcus the journey which led him first to reaffirm the reality of God, then to an understanding and faith in Jesus, and finally an encounter with the Holy Spirit, through encouragement of his ... more
